We all have our skill set, they are all different to each other in some ways, just as we are unique. First you must look back on where, when and whom you learnt these skills from. Were they service standards from a company? Teachings of a Mentor/Manager? Advice from a colleague or simply a lesson you taught yourself by situational experience. Afterwards, you may want to seek feedback or look internal at where you think / feel you're at. Once accessed, it's time to plan how to improve weaknesses or reinforce strengths. Ask for help and use your learning styles to make your learning enjoyable and efficient. This will take time to understand yourself, so be patient and keep positive, remember you're on your way to where you need to be!

I understand. It can appear quite challenging to put yourself in different scenarios and situations to develop your skills. What worked for me: - Networking with fellow hospitality and taking opportunities they have for extra work. I.e Guest Shift, Events or joint training- Be The Change That You Want To See. You may think that those opportunities aren't available to you, but in reality. With some elbow grease and an environment, you can create these situations. Ask those appropriate, to use space to organise roleplays, talks, and training for you and your colleagues.Receive feedback from others to learn what else to add to these situations or how to make them run effectively so everyone can take away the best experience possible.

4 Reflect on your hospitality experiences and outcomes

The fourth step to developing your hospitality skills is to reflect on your experiences and outcomes and evaluate your progress and performance. You can do this by keeping a journal, a portfolio, or a log of your hospitality activities and results. You can also review your feedback, testimonials, or ratings from your customers, clients, or colleagues. You can also measure your achievements against your goals and benchmarks. You can also identify your strengths and weaknesses and areas for improvement.

What I Have Done To Develop My Own Skills - Take Time Off Work. I repeat. Take Time Off Work. One thing not mentioned in other examples is how important it is to take time away from the Hospitality Industry. We all require time to recharge, before we are back to service. The workplace will not disappear without you for a week. You are allowed to take time off and use this time wisely. For me: My best development was when I wasn't working. This is space and time to think freely, without daily stresses or biased opinions. You can take this as a way to reflect but, be moderate if you're prone to being very self critical. You can set goals, and establish small changes towards those goals. This is a good time to look at the future.
